(In tune of “Where, oh where, has my little dog gone?” – been around toddlers in the afternoons!)
Where, oh where, has my memory gone?
Oh where, oh where, can it be?
With my childhood fun and important events
Where, oh where, can it be?
I have done some games to train my brain,
But it tests on numbers and faces.
I am already good at remembering those
What, oh what, shall i do?
If I stop to think and slow down my mind,
I can break down what happened each day.
But going far back or learning fun facts
Is quite impossible for me!
Where, oh where, has my memory gone?
Oh where, oh where, can it be?
With my childhood fun and important events
Where, oh where, can it be?
I write thoughts down so not to forget
And I am constantly “on-the-go.”
But my long and short term memories
Seem to fade not so slow.
My mind sometimes compensates
By trying to fill in the gaps.
But usually it has been wrong,
And I do not understand!
Where, oh where, has my memory gone?
Oh where, oh where, can it be?
With my childhood fun and important events
Where, oh where, can it be?
Very, very nice 🙂

Kid song and memory questions make an interesting contrast.

Cute. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one with memory issues. Can’t say I’ve set them to music, yet, though…

I love it! It’s so clever, but so true. Thanks for the giggle this morning!

I can completely relate to this throughout different times in my life! That was one – when my daughter was a toddler – but also when I was pregnant with her, and now that I’m getting older, too!

Fun lament! Maybe a few minutes over a cup of tea or yummy ice cream will give your memory a chance to catch up to you.

Memory is a funny thing isn’t it. So many things can enhance or detract. I also found this to be quite fun and playful. I post poems, but I am not sure I ever put anything to song and posted it. I might just have to try!!!

Glad you came to the party with a song! Love your imaginative spin on a problem that many of us can relate to.

Sweet! I can surely relate. We have so many tasks and responsibilities, emails, text messages, and conversations to attend to. How can we keep track? I might have an answer to where your memory has gone. (If you are like me, that is.) My memory shows up sometimes at 4:00 a.m. when I wake up with a to-do list rattling around in my head keeping me from getting back to sleep.
I like that you wrote a song about your missing memory!

I can so commiserate with you! I lose words all the time if have to carry Post-it notes and small notebooks with me at all times so that I can take notes on my life to help me remember.

That’s hilarious. I also can’t remember things to save my life.

Ha ha, cute. Looks like we are very “on theme,” thinking about the transient qualities of memory.
