Flavor Friday: Better eat breakfast!

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day”

My stomach kicks in pretty soon after I wake up, but with a busy work week, I don’t eat a full meal. I am grabbing a granola bar or yogurt, and eating in the car. I like to sleep as much as possible and give myself about 20 minutes to get ready. Breakfast sometimes even gets skipped altogether for many people. Unless you build in the time to eat/make food, it is impossible to start the day off with a bunch of energy. Since I am eating a small bite for my first meal, I tend to get hungry again around 10 (which I also fill with a snack) and then am starving by lunch.

Without eating breakfast, you are compensating the low energy with cups and cups of coffee – not the healthiest! I might try and bring some cereal or toast as well as yogurt to eat on the morning commute to work. It is critical for my stomach’s sanity and to keep me peppy until lunch 🙂

  1. Yes! I know people who just drink coffee for breakfast. We are all different. However, I agree that it’s a compensation of natural energy with an artificial dose of caffeine.

  2. Agree – I think we often make a mistake and make dinner our most important meal instead and that’s pretty much the absolute worst thing for your body

  3. I usually don’t do a big breakfast, either. I like a bowl of yogurt with berries and a tiny bit of granola. Between that and a coffee, I’m good to go!

  4. I couldn’t agree more. I love breakfast and it’s my biggest meal of the day. I always try my best to have something ready be it overnight oatmeal or pre-made breakfast I just to warm up the next day just to ensure I have a good meal. If I don’t eat a good breakfast it throws off my whole day!

  5. Hi Hannah,

The experts tell us that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That’s why we are told to eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper!

    Thanks for the reminder 🙂

    Best regards

  6. I know I should eat breakfast, but when I wake up – I’m typically not hungry. Some mornings, the thought of food doesn’t even appeal to me until after 10 AM. Its a screwy way for my mind to treat my body, but I have a hard time getting myself to eat like a normal person…

  7. Breakfast is such an important meal, but I never really paid it any attention until recent years. I was always rushing out of the house. I love breakfast FOOD though, so I love going to all-day breakfast places 😆

  8. Over the years, there has been so much debate about breakfast that my take is to eat when you are hungry. Our bodies function differently and we should listen to its needs. 🙂
