Human Hysteria (70/365) #blogaday MARCH SOL 14/31

Take a look at the cover photo for this post. First of all, you can’t catch the corona virus from your pet. Second of all, you don’t need to live in a bubble – it’s probably keeping in whatever dirt you had on your clothes when you wrapped yourself up to begin with!

It is somewhat hard to see but this is the line of people waiting outside the local Trader Joe’s – they have limited the amount of people in the store at the same time..! It goes around the block as well 😮

People are treating the virus like it’s the end of the world. We don’t need to be stocking up on everything as if we will never leave our homes again. It’s not the apocalypse and it’s not a hurricane that cuts us from supplies.

Hysteria is worse than the virus. People hear that venues, schools, and office buildings are closing and they think THIS IS IT. Global and local news are causing people to swarm and become less sane.

Yesterday I went grocery shopping at night to avoid crowds, and it looked like we are in a food shortage – there are empty shelves in most aisles, no more paper bags (you should already be bringing your own from home like I do FYI), and people filling their carts more than normal.

I just hope the peak of hysteria is now and people start calming down after the next few weeks.

  1. The hysteria is crazy. I bet that before we all went shopping to stock up, we all had enough in our homes to last us longer than we thought. Just think of those who people who on a regular basis do not have enough food or household supplies. I hope we all learn important lessons from this experience.

  2. The purpose of getting in line like that seems different now. Sadly it’s getting like a shopping fight or a competition to see who gets more and the most food, and it’s contagious. This is scarier than the virus actually.
