I have been reading The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood and I love the way she writes!
This particular section below stood out to me a few chapters ago

I love the way that I can visualize how downtrodden the character is feeling just by reading the highlighted section. She is dropped off and then picked up by has no true purpose or place to go.
It is inspiring as a creative writer to see how a metaphor can really get the point across while also being poetic and elegant. She could have just said “I feel like I have nowhere to go these days” BUT using the letter without an address portrays a more tangible emotion and lack of purpose.
That was a great metaphor!
