First off! Only 11 more posts minus this one..March is flying by!
For today’s slice, I wanted to discuss some lyrics that have stuck with me.
I heard a song called “The Show” by Niall Horan over the weekend and I keep coming back to the chorus in my head.
“If everything was easy, nothing ever broke. If everything was simple, how would we know? How to fix your tears, how to fake a show, how to paint a smile”

We all grow from our experiences good and tough.
This past year I’ve grown and let more things go that might have bothered me before. I was going through a divorce and adding school onto my full-time work schedule.
The start of this year, my boyfriend and I had a rough start to the year really pushing us emotionally. With lots of stress of a car accident that could have hurt us both badly, of my cat needing unexpected surgery, of now needing more side jobs to support the finances we lost.
If none of this happened, how would we know how to make each other smile or what makes us get to a near breaking point?
Are there lyrics or a poem that sticks with you?
Song lyrics are always so clever. I love the way country music in particular has so many double meanings in the lyrics. I love the way you highlight the way this one speaks to the phase of life you are in right now.

I love the way you weave the lyrics that stick with you into a story of what’s been going on in your life. It sounds like, hard as it was, the beginning of this year has let you know how good you have it with your boyfriend – not a bad silver lining. One line that pops into my head a LOT is from Mary Oliver’s poem “Wild Geese”: You do not have to be good. I’m pretty sure this line alone has helped me grow stronger over and over. Sometimes I whisper it to myself. Thanks for letting me think about it again now.
