(March SOL) Beautiful ballads from Odette

I am constantly discovering new music through All Songs Considered – I love hearing a variety of artists and having different styles for my mood 🙂 The newest one who I heard on the way home today is Odette. She was born in Great Britain and grew up in Australia, and has an intriguing style of poetic lyrics and some rap in her songs.

She was featured on the South by Southwest preview episode of All Songs, in which Robin Hilton and Bob Boilen discuss their favorites from the thousands listened to who will be performing at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. I was instantly drawn to her because the song featured above “Watch me read you” has such a unique tone! I have since listened to her on Spotify, and there are many songs that give me chills with the lyrics and melodies, including “Do you see me” and “Onyx.”

What do you think of Odette? Who are your favorite artists at the moment?

  1. I’m visiting you at 3:46 a.m. w/ a big, Heaney breathing dog and a Bi-pap clad husband sleeping to my right, so I’m saving Odette for later! But I love the song titles and love getting music recommendations.
