Food from the season (346/365) #blogaday

Yesterday, I was given bread dough that just had to complete its last prove and then could be baked! My nannying family made too much sourdough for the meal they were having, so I got given what they didn’t need 😮

Around lunchtime today, I took it out of the fridge and put in the not heated oven with the light on to let it double in size. I looked up in one of my cookbooks how long and what temperature to bake it.

It turned out great!

To go with it, I decided I wanted to make pumpkin soup – we received pumpkin purée by mistake with our last grocery delivery. And warm soup with some fresh baked sourdough is perfect!

I found a recipe on a blog my sister sent me that involved sweet potatoes, apple, vegetable stock, and onion with various spices of your choosing. We switched out the sweet potato for pumpkin and the onion for celery (based on what we had at home). We mostly used curry, ginger, turmeric, brown sugar, and poultry seasoning.

It is a very yummy comforting soup!
