As I lay sound asleep, the animalistic nature of the outside world was very alert.

A pack of coyotes was on the prowl in search of a late night meal.

I will never know how long they were roaming or what they caught.

But they let everyone around them and neighborhoods nearby hear in the only way they know how.

I was startled awake by the eery and ear-piercing howls which sounded like they were directly outside my window.
