Jobs on the brain (SOL Tuesday)

As the school year comes to a close, I am frantically putting together my licensing paperwork to be transferred to another state. I have also started looking at jobs in the surrounding area where we be living. It is very exciting, but at the same time, there are so many jobs that I can apply for – it is important for me to send my resume out everywhere in order to assure that I will hear back from schools. Most jobs say they require a minimum of 3 years teaching experience, which is not possible as a newer teacher! I have been subbing for about six months, and taught in a preschool setting while my license was being processed. I remember the teaching program coordinators saying to “just apply anyway” because all schools would like more experienced teachers, but you can be lucky.

  1. Take heart. Every one of us has had to experience our first year… I was hired two weeks before school opened my first year. I wish you success in getting exactly what you want!

  2. Congratulations! This is an exciting time. You will definitely get a chance to get those first few years experience. Everyone does! (You are in a better position than moving with too many years experience.) It sounds like you are being bold and confident. All the best.

    Warmly,
    Denise

  3. It probably doesn’t seem like it’s a good thing, but this is such an exciting time and I wish you the best. I agree that you need to apply anyway; schools don’t get the applicants they always need, and a good resume stands out regardless of how many years experience you have. Good luck!
