Blogging as my buddy: Day 5 of 15 Day Challenge (157/365) #blogaday

Today’s question for the challenge is top 3 things you love about blogging. I think this is a great because blogging is such a part of my life, but I never really think about why I love to do it!

1. Creativity

– I love that blogging allows me to have fun with writing and include silly posts through my cat’s perspective 😮 I also have started sharing sections of the fantasy novel I’ve been working on for a few months, which really helps me feel validated in the work.

2. Sense of community

– Blogging is its own world in a sense. Everyone has things they like to read and write about that are unique to them. There is an environment created on each person’s website. I feel like there are some bloggers I connect with every day and it makes me smile when new and old followers comment or like my posts!

3. Simply, all the writing I get to do

– Since I am completing the #blogaday challenge this year, I am constantly thinking of ideas for posts and writing poetry, stories, or just my thoughts onto a website that will always hold them like secret treasure ready to be found 🙂

What are your top 3 you love about blogging?

This post is also going on the Slice of Life page! This takes place every Tuesday – feel free to check it out.

  1. Your three aptly capture my reasons, too, especially community, but for me there’s the act of putting myself out in the public sphere, to experience that discomfort that many of my students must feel when they are made vulnerable as writers. I know I didn’t give that enough weight when I taught full-time.

    1. That’s a really great point! There is definitely worry sometimes when I get too “weird” or “out there” with my cat posts or my book. It is so important for children to understand that it doesn’t matter if people laugh as long as you wrote it and feel proud

      1. Yes, and to feel that you truly understand what they are feeling, that you, too, are walking the walk—and it’s not easy!

  3. Blogging makes me appreciate my own writing. I am always surprised when people read my blog. So, yes, it’s definitely about gaining the confidence to share our words with others. It is also funny to see myself going through the steps I taught my students for those years I taught writing. “You can almost always leave out the word ‘that’. Too many exclamation points! Do you really want to ask a question? Reread…revise…edit.”

  4. I agree that creativity is absolutely one of them. Writing itself is to cultivate my creativity, and a community to share your writing with is precious. Just like kids sharing their writing pieces in the classroom, there are acceptance, appreciation, positivity, friendship, etc. To me blogging is also like a diary/history of my life that I can look back on later in the future to see how much I have grown!
